Localization
Regional Content QA for Casino and Sportsbook Pages
Each localized template must state the rules of its own market: bonus limits, stake limits, deposit limits, age and help lines. This QA sheet lists the checks per page type for the UK, Germany, Spain and Canada.
In brief
- Great Britain caps bonus wagering requirements at 10 times and bans mixed-product promotions from January 19, 2026.
- Germany keeps a default slot stake of EUR 1 and a cross-operator deposit limit of EUR 1,000 a month; higher stakes are allowed under conditions since July 1, 2026.
- Spain requires a "Juego más seguro" section and, from about March 25, 2027, combined deposit limits across operators.
- Ontario's iGaming minimum age is 19, one year above the other markets here.
Content QA for an international site fails in a predictable way: a template is translated from the source market and keeps that market's rules. A German page that promises an autoplay feature, or a Spanish page that shows a British help line, is wrong in its own market however good the translation is. Use this sheet after translation review and before the SEO checks.
Scope. This is a checklist for editors and SEO teams, built from regulators' published rules. It does not replace a compliance review, and rules change: check each source's date before relying on it.
Promotions and bonus pages
| Market | Rule to reflect | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain | Wagering requirements capped at 10 times; mixed-product promotions (for example betting plus slots) banned; both from January 19, 2026 | Gambling Commission, incentives consultation response |
| Great Britain | Online direct marketing needs opt-in by product type and channel (from May 1, 2025) | Gambling Commission news, May 1, 2024 |
| Spain | Promotion conditions must be available on the operator's website (RD 958/2020, art. 13.4.d). The Supreme Court annulled arts. 13.1 and 13.3 on April 2, 2024 | RD 958/2020; Supreme Court ruling, BOE May 25, 2024 |
| Germany | Check bonus wording against the license conditions and current GGL guidance before publishing | License terms (operator-specific) |
| Canada (Ontario) | Check against the AGCO Registrar's Standards for internet gaming and the brand's iGaming Ontario agreement | AGCO (operator-specific) |
Game pages
- Great Britain. Online slots stake limits are GBP 5 per spin for adults (from April 9, 2025) and GBP 2 per spin for ages 18 to 24 (from May 21, 2025). From January 17, 2025, online game design rules removed autoplay and turbo features and set a minimum game cycle of 5 seconds for casino games. Game descriptions must not promise features that no longer exist.
- Germany. For virtual slots, § 22a GlüStV 2021 limits the stake to EUR 1 per game and requires an average game length of at least 5 seconds; the GGL lists autoplay as banned. Since July 1, 2026, the GGL allows up to EUR 3 for players aged 21 and over, and up to EUR 5 for players aged 21 and over with 90 days of unremarkable play and extra monitoring, until December 31, 2027. EUR 1 stays the default.
- Germany, table games. Online roulette, blackjack and baccarat are licensed by each state under § 22c, not by the GGL. Do not describe them on a page for a brand that holds only a virtual slots permit.
Account, deposit and limit pages
- Great Britain. Operators must offer gross deposit limits; the Commission extended the second implementation phase to the end of September 2026. Financial vulnerability checks start at GBP 150 net deposits a month from February 28, 2025.
- Germany. The cross-operator deposit limit is EUR 1,000 a month by default (§ 6c GlüStV 2021), enforced through the LUGAS limit file; the GGL FAQ explains when it can be raised.
- Spain. RD 520/2026 (BOE June 25, 2026) creates combined deposit limits per player across operators, with defaults of EUR 700 a day, EUR 1,750 a week and EUR 3,300 per four weeks. It enters into force nine months after publication, around March 25, 2027. Prepare the copy now, publish it when the rule applies.
- Spain, young players. RD 176/2023 defines young players as aged 25 or under and bars them from VIP-style specialist services.

| Canada (Ontario) | 19 | ConnexOntario, 1-866-531-2600 (24/7) | iGaming Ontario directory link for players to check operators |
Advertising landing pages
- Spain. Commercial communications may not be aimed at minors, directly or indirectly (RD 958/2020, art. 11.1), and broadcast audiovisual communications are limited to 01:00 to 05:00 (art. 18.1). Landing pages that receive that traffic should carry the same warnings.
- Great Britain. Marketing consent rules apply to the email and SMS traffic that lands on these pages.
- Everywhere. A landing page in a market where the brand is not licensed should not exist. Check the register first.
Using the sheet
- Copy the rows for the target market into the template's QA record.
- Mark each row pass, fail or not applicable, with the reviewer's name and date.
- Check each source's date. Where a rule has a future start date, record when the copy must change.
- Re-run the sheet when the regulator publishes a change. Our market pages list the 2025 and 2026 changes we track.
Questions
Is this sheet a compliance sign-off?
No. It lists published rules that commonly affect page copy so editors can catch errors early. The operator's compliance team signs off against its license.
Do German slot stakes still stop at EUR 1?
EUR 1 per game remains the statutory default. Since July 1, 2026, the GGL allows higher stakes of up to EUR 3 or EUR 5 for players aged 21 and over who meet its conditions, until the end of 2027.
When do Spain's combined deposit limits apply?
RD 520/2026 was published on June 25, 2026 and enters into force nine months after publication, which is around March 25, 2027.
